    Basic Psychological Processes:

    UNIT-I

    Memory and Forgetting: Concept of memory, stages of memory, information processing approach, sensory, short term and long term memory. Methods of measuring memory. Forgetting: Nature, causes and various theories of forgetting, Decay and interference theory.

    UNIT-II

    Motivation and Emotion: Nature, meaning and indicators of motivation, Motivational cycle, Biogenic and Sociogenic motives. Emotion: Nature and types of emotion, Development of emotional patterns and control of emotions. Theories of emotion: James Lange, Cannon Bard, Schachter and Singer. Physiological correlates of emotion. Culture and emotion.

    UNIT-III

    Thinking: Nature and types of thinking. Realistic and autistic thinking. Imagery, prototypes, language and thought. Intelligence: Nature, definition and concept of IQ, Genetic and environmental factors on intelligence. Theories of intelligence: Spearman, Thurstone, Thorndike and Guilford. Personality: Concept of personality. Trait and type approaches of personality. Biological, social and cultural determinants of personality.
